Have now spent just over a week monitoring migrating and staging Pink-footed geese
Anser brachyrhynchus (N=kortnebbgås) in Helgeland, Norway. Have seen many thousands on direct migration south from their breeding grounds in Svalbard. Also a lot of birds staging en route, something which is a recent development. The flocks this autmn are small and scattered, which means it takes a lot of time and effort to get a good count.
No farmer at home today
Taking flight after being scared by an eagle
Ringed female white P67. She has 3 young, but has lost her partner!
