Purple Sandpipers in the sun

Regular readers of this blog must surely be wondering why there have been no Purple Sandpiper Calidris maritima (N=fjæreplytt) photos this winter. Well, the reason is there haven't been any at Midtsandan until fairly recently, and there have only been up to four birds seen at any one time. Yesterday, 28th January, the sun shone for a few hours on Midtsandneset, the spit at Midtsandan. I only found two "purps" but the light was good so I lay down on the rather damp and cold bench and fired away. Some of the better shots appear below, and you can expect to see more images of these little beauties in the course of the next few weeks.
