Landscape and birds

I have now been in the Herøy area for a week now. Lots of barnacle geese Branta leucopsis (N=hvitkinngås) here with a little under 3000 birds a couple of days ago, although total numbers are less now. Other bird highlights of late include several black-tailed godwits Limosa limosa islandica (N=svarthalespove), ruff Philomachus pugnax (N=brushane), and garganey Anas querquedula (N=knekkand). But it is not just the rare birds that are of interest. Common birds at present include northern wheatear Oenanthe oenanthe (N=steinskvett) - complete with characteristic "bandit mask".

And the scenery here can take your breath away!!!

The Dønna Man (Dønnamannen). If you use your imagination it looks like a man lying on his back, his nose being the sharp peak to the left.
