I have now been in the Herøy area for a week now. Lots of barnacle geese
Branta leucopsis (N=hvitkinngås) here with a little under 3000 birds a couple of days ago, although total numbers are less now. Other bird highlights of late include several black-tailed godwits
Limosa limosa islandica (N=svarthalespove), ruff
Philomachus pugnax (N=brushane), and garganey
Anas querquedula (N=knekkand). But it is not just the rare birds that are of interest. Common birds at present include northern wheatear
Oenanthe oenanthe (N=steinskvett) - complete with characteristic "bandit mask".
And the scenery here can take your breath away!!!
The Seven Sisters (Sju Søstre) viewed from Herøy
The Dønna Man (Dønnamannen). If you use your imagination it looks like a man lying on his back, his nose being the sharp peak to the left.
