Invasion from east

There have been unprecedented numbers of Pine Grosbeaks Pinicola enucleator (N=konglebit) in Norway this autumn, and most birdwatchers have had the good fortune to see this species with a little effort. They can be surprisingly anonymous, but once you learn their calls they become a little easier to find. They have been (and still are having) a feast on berries (both wild berries like rowan as well as the berries on ornamental bushes).

There have also been good numbers of Waxwings Bombycilla garrulus (N=sidensvans), although numbers are now dwindling at least here around Trondheimsfjord, as the birds delete the berry crops.
