Geese, crane, eagles and godwit

It is one month since I last updated this blog. Been very busy of late - international goose conference in Steinkjer, then fieldwork in Røyrvik (Nord-Trøndelag) and Herøy (Nordland).

A few bird photographs taken in recent weeks:

Greylag Goose Anser anser (N=grågås) and a group of Barnacle Geese Branta leucopsis (N=hvitkinngås), Herøy, Nordland May 2012

Taiga Bean Geese Anser fabalis fabilis (N=taigasædgås) Røyrvik, Nord-Trøndelag late April 2012

Barnacle geese Branta leucopsis Sør-Herøy, Nordland May 2012

Common Crane Grus grus (N=trane) Høylandet, Nord-Trøndelag May 2012

Two White-tailed Eagles Haliaeetus albicilla (N=havørn), with Greylag Geese in background. A rather unusual scene - White-tailed Eagles eat Greylags! Vandve, Dønna, Nordland 16th May 2012

On a much sadder note - overhead cables kill White-tailed Eagles and other broad-winged birds. Pictured the remains of an unfortunate eagle! Tenna, Herøy, Nordland May 2012.

Black-tailed Godwit Limosa limosa islandica (N=svarthalespove) Tenna, Herøy May 2012
